Prodding from Beyond.
God leaves us hints. It's because man saw birds flying in the sky that he ever wondered if he could too. It's because he saw a boulder rolling down a hill that he ever considered the concept of a wheel. It's because of God's glory that man tried to build a tower up to heaven, so that we could be like Him. Everything man has invented has come from seeing the essence of their creation unhindered in nature. So where did superheroes come from?
"For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20-21. We live in an age where the technology that we have grown accustomed to and bored of today would have been considered as grand and impossible as moving a mountain with your mind. But we've done it. What vexes me about all of human achievement up to this point is that it has been focused on creating apparatuses by which humans can conquer the forces of nature as a pilot or operator, but little to no evolution has occurred within the human body itself. When pondering how to learn to fly, we created metal machines to carry us in the skies, never considering the possibility that the human body itself may be able to evolve into achieving this capability.
I count legends and myths nearly as certain as science. In fact, the Monomyth has proven to be more secure and steady than most of our scientific hypotheses across existence of the human race. Our science has changed exponentially more than our stories. It's often because of stories that people invent new things or change their worlds. The Bible and His less accurate sister documents provide much context for the stories and legends that have survived to this day. Dragons, magic, worldwide floods, zombies, all of these have both modern equivalents and ancient roots. Where did telekinesis come from? Not from the aether, that's for certain. I intend to learn how to influence the elements like the Avatar, wield a lightsaber with the Force like a Jedi, fly like a Viltrumite, and connect with abilities and spirituality only possible through training and research. We say that we live in a world that has nothing left to discover. Perhaps that is true. There is nothing new to find outside of us. But a whole world of possibilities awaits if we turn our eyes inward. There is the Final Frontier.
Speaking practically, how would one even go about this endeavor? To achieve communion with the 4 states of matter, the 4 elements, the 4 fundamental interactions, it will be a task of both spiritual and scientific training and research. On a cursory examination, both the states of matter and fundamental interactions have a possible 5th member, BECs, Spirit, and the Fifth Force respectively. The laws of sciences aren't laws, they are hypotheses that do not have sufficient evidence to suggest they are not true. Yet. They are not unchanging. In fact, the most fundamental ideas about science change seemingly every few generations. I will not be distracted by the "laws". Simply because a thing has not evidence to suggest the contrary does not mean it is true.
It's the study of these subjects alone that seems to be restricting us from further progress. For example, British and Dutch scientists used diamagnetism to cause frogs, plants, and a grasshopper to float without causing any harm to the organisms. We also know that humans such as Wim Hof and Roy Benavidez have mastered process within their bodies to achieve superhuman feats considered impossible, hiking up and down Mount Everest nearly naked and forcing their body to reverse paralysis respectively. What if we combined these case studies and looked for patterns and possibilities between them? Belief in the possibility that something can be achieved is the prerequisite to getting anywhere close to it.
So, what now? Well, any sort of research starts with a hypothesis. Many more will be written in the course of my studies, but my first, rough hypotheses are these:
1. If electromagnetic or acoustic fields can influence matter at a distance, then controlled movement of fluids and particles and creating combustion can be achieved by mastering the human body and its intrinsic electromagnetic and acoustic capabilities.
2. If a human body can be altered so that it can generate thrust exceeding its weight without external structures, then unaided human flight is possible.
3. If a magnetic field can contain high-energy plasma into a stable, blade-shaped column, that same magnetic field would repel a device of the same capacity and simultaneously function as a heat-cutting device.
All of these theories challenge scientific laws. Many of those reading this will simply laugh and move on with their lives. I suppose that's your right to do so. We used to think the world was the center of the universe too. All "modern and sophisticated science" supported that idea. It was wrong. You are too. You just don't know it yet. Big claims require big proof. I intend to deliver.
